Our political passions often start, quite admirably, with a desire to defend a demonized group. Unfortunately the response is often sanctimoniously demonizing some other group. We too often project our demons onto our outgroup (see Slate Star Codex's classic I can tolerate anyone except my outgroup).

I'm guilty of all of this, and I'm trying to do better. Below are my attempts to understand and in some cases predict the political world. I apologize if my views offend anyone. They are mine alone, and I respect those who think differently.
